Susi Evans is a founder member of She'Koyokh. She is also a co-founder of the London Klezmer Quartet with whom she has toured all over Europe and seven times in Australia.
She was described as "the Queen of the klezmer clarinet" by the Clarinet & Saxophone Society of Great Britain.
Susi performs regularly with her duo partner, Hannover-based accordionist Szilvia Csaranko. They are collaborators on numerous projects including the Klezmer Playbook publications. Susi is a member of the Belgian-based band, Halva, and performs with Karayam ensemble.
Susi appeared regularly on London’s West End stage in the National Theatre’s smash-hit production of War Horse and has worked with BAFTA-winning composer Jocelyn Pook, the Mahogany Opera Group and as musical director for Limbik Theatre.
Susi is an established educator and has taught at all the major international klezmer festivals including Yiddish New York, KlezKanada, Shtetl Berlin and Yiddish Summer Weimar, as well as being Head of Faculty for Klezfest London.
Susi grew up in Hemel Hempstead, attended the Purcell School of Music and after graduating from the Royal Academy of Music with a first class degree in 2004, continued her studies in Istanbul and at the Plovdiv Academy of Music in Bulgaria. In 2017 Susi was awarded an ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music).
